Explanation

The system of scoring gives each participant qualified to the final opportunity to achieve the highest position. All persons qualified for the final usually play at the highest similar level.

Here is an extreme example: Consider two participants X and Y.

Stage I:
After the first stage, 10 participants were selected for the second stage - the participant receives 1 point for each position in the list
X - 1st on the list receives 10 points
Y - 10th on the list receives 1 point

Stage II
After the second stage 5 participants were selected to the third stage. Each receives 4 points for each position on the list.
X - 1st on the list receives 20 points (4 points * 5 positions = 20)
Y - 5th on the list receives 4 points (4 points * 1 position = 4)

Stage III
Participant X did not perform the best while the participant Y performed brilliantly.
X - no juror gave him any point - he received 0 points.
Y - All jurors gave 3 points - he received 36 points (3 * 12 jurors = 36).

Total points from all stages
X - 10 + 20 + 0 = 30
Y - 1 + 4 + 36 = 41
